My journey in the world of interior design began in Dublin, Ireland back in 2004. After completing an Advanced Diploma in Interior Design at the prestigious Dublin Institute of Design, I kick-started my career by working on high-end residential projects for a renowned design studio in Ranelagh. With three years of valuable experience at Helen Turkington Interiors, I decided to establish my own successful design consultancy, known as Jill Owens Interiors. Throughout this time, I had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, from period renovations to city apartment fit outs, which allowed me to gain a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

 

In 2008, I made the decision to embark on a new adventure and emigrated to Australia. However, I quickly realized that the building terminology and practices in this new country were quite different from what I was accustomed to. To bridge this gap, I enrolled in a diploma program in Building Design and Technology, which provided me with the necessary skills and understanding of the Australian construction industry. For the next seven years, I held the position of Interior Designer at Ultimo Interiors, a leading contemporary furniture showroom in Australia, where I continued to refine my craft and contribute to the creation of stunning spaces.

 

In January 2019, I felt an undeniable pull back into the world of Interior Design Consultancy. The allure of diverse projects and the freedom to explore different styles and scopes of work as a freelance Interior Designer was too enticing to resist. With a renewed passion, I eagerly re-entered the consultancy field, ready to once again create unique and personalized designs for my valued clients. From new builds to extensive renovations, I had the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, each presenting its own set of challenges and rewards. It was a privilege to be a part of an industry that is constantly evolving, allowing me to contribute to the creation of countless remarkable spaces.

 

Then, in September 2022, an opportunity came knocking that was simply too good to pass up. I was offered a position as the lead interior designer at Giorgi, a renowned name in the industry. Joining their esteemed team was an honour and a testament to my dedication and expertise. Giorgi is known for their exceptional architecture and construction services, specialising in luxury homes located in Perth's most coveted neighbourhoods, from City Beach to Cottesloe and Dalkeith to Applecross. This new chapter in my career allows me to collaborate with a team of highly skilled tradesmen, craftsmen, and artisans who share the same level of professionalism and commitment to excellence.

 

Regardless of the project's size or complexity, I approach each endeavour with unwavering patience, meticulous attention to detail, and a deep appreciation for the various trades involved. As someone who thrives on change and embraces the transformative power of design, I am grateful for the opportunity to work in an industry that has the ability to shape the way people live. My personal design philosophy revolves around understanding the unique requirements and personality of each client, as well as the context of the building itself, and translating those elements into a truly remarkable and breathtakingly designed space.
